The fourth season of The Backyardigans aired from October 1, 2009 to July 12, 2013. It contains twenty episodes.

  • This is the only season in 16:9 widescreen and with a picture format of HDTV/1080i.
  • Nickelodeon did not normally air episodes from this season in widescreen format until July 2013.
  • This season is available on Nickelodeon's video-on-demand service.
  • This season's intro has been reanimated for the final time. Meaning that this time the floor in a few scenes of the intro has a bit modified, and the characters shadows are now visible. And yet again, new scenes during the third and last stanzas of the intro, mean more 4th wall breaking to spoil the fans of the series. Also, despite the logo at the end of this intro still has the 2009 Nickelodeon logo, and the credits are new this time, they still tend to have the words Nick Jr. and have the 2008 Nickelodeon Lightbulb logo, until late 2009, where they remove the word Nick Jr. from Kay Wilson Stallings credit and Nickelodeon replaced Nick Jr. in the canadian/international version. The 2009 Nickelodeon Productions also replaces the lightbulb logo, which is good news for the ones who are frightened by "da bulb".
  • This season has been released to the Canadian iTunes store.
  • Chris Grant Jr. becomes the new voice for Tyrone in this season.
  • Uniqua and Austin get new singing voices in this season: Avion Baker and Nicholas Barasch, respectively.
