"In this special set to Dixieland, Uniqua, Cowboy Pablo, and Tyrone of the Jungle travel north to discover the Secret of Snow from Ice Lady Tasha and her assistant, Austin."

A red hardcover book opens and Austin starts narrating. Inside the book is a picture of Uniqua jumping happily on a cold winter day. The picture becomes animated. Once upon a time, there was uniqua telling the viewer how she loves snow and wishes it would snow. She sings the song "I Love Snow." Austin tells Uniqua that he doesn't know the secret of snow but does know someone who might. Uniqua begs Austin to tell her who, and he does. He tells her that the Ice Lady might be able to make it snow.

The backyard transforms into the frozen north as Uniqua makes her way to the Ice Lady's ice-making factory. Meanwhile, inside the factory, Tasha, the Ice Lady, orders her assistant, Austin, to make ice. The Ice Lady looks at her screen, which shows her every place in the world. She pulls a lever to cover the areas with ice. She has Austin turn a forest into solid ice, then a city park. She sings the song "Fill It Up With Ice." The doorbell rings. She looks at her security camera and sees Uniqua standing outside. She uses her ice twister to send Uniqua to the desert.

Uniqua falls onto the sand and realizes she's in the desert. She sees a blue penguin cowboy running past her. She runs after him telling the penguin that her name is Uniqua. The cowboy introduces himself as Cowboy Pablo. He also shows her that he is running away from a huge twister! Uniqua looks behind herself and sees the large spiraling gust of wind. She starts to run faster. Austin sees the two on the screen located at the ice factory. He is alarmed and freezes the twister by pulling a lever. The sound of wind stops at the desert, and the two find the twister covered in ice. but icy twister fall down into ground, Pablo asks if what the twister is now encased in is snow; Uniqua tells him that it's not and snow is much better.

Pablo says he always wanted to play in the snow and perhaps build a snowman. Pablo asks Uniqua where they can find snow. Uniqua says that if they find out the secret of snow from the Ice Lady in the frozen north, they will be able to make it snow. She and Pablo sing a duet of "I Love Snow" as they start out of the desert. They arrive at the ice factory and ring the doorbell. Ice Lady gets tired of the interruptions and sends the two to the jungle.

After being covered in the ice twister, they arrive in a jungle. Pablo asks where they are. Uniqua tells him that they are in the middle of the jungle. Pablo and Uniqua walk further into the jungle and come across a large waterfall. Uniqua suggests that they swing across with a vine. When she tries to swing across, she doesn't quite make it to the other side; Pablo tries to help her but doesn't fare any better. They end up dangling over the waterfall on the vine. Luckily, Tyrone of the Jungle swings across on another vine and invites the two onto it. Tyrone asks what Pablo and Uniqua are doing in the jungle. Uniqua tells Tyrone that the Ice Lady from the north sent them there. Tyrone understands. The vine starts to rip because the three are too heavy and break in half. Then there was trouble: the trio starts falling toward the rushing water, but Austin sees them on the screen in the ice factory and turns the water to ice.

The jungle dwellers fall onto a icy waterfall. The three funs and thuds into ground. Tyrone asks if the hard, cold ice is snow. Pablo tells him it is ice, and snow is much fluffier and softer. They sing a trio of "I Love Snow." The three head off to the north to find the Ice Lady again. They arrive at the door of the ice factory. The Ice Lady is not present, and Austin lets the three in. He tells them to try to escape when the Ice Lady spots them inside the factory. The quartet dashes away and tries to get out of the factory. But the Ice Lady spots them hiding and turns the next door to ice. They run left. She blocks the next exit with a block of ice. Then she blocks the entrance. The four are inside the work room. but the floor into ice, The four is slipped away. A icicle door is fall and shuts it down.

She brings them inside and sends the three and Austin to the workroom, where employees create blocks of ice on conveyor belts. The four are bored and start to make the job fun by creating multiple shapes with the ice. They sing "Make the Ice." Tasha finds them having fun and sings a reprise of "Fill It Up With Ice."

The Ice Lady tries to crank up the speed and quantity that the factory produces. She pulls a lever that controls them and pulls it so hard down that it breaks. Ice pours drops out, The pipe leaks out water, drowning the Ice Lady in ice cubes. The four try to save her. They run up to Tasha and pull her out of the ice. Tasha is thankful and asks the three newcomers why they are here. Uniqua tells her that she wants to discover the secret of snow. Tasha puts a sad look on her face and tells her that she doesn't know the secret, and she apologizes for her behavior.

The five sing the song "The Secret of Snow." During the song, it starts to snow outside. Uniqua is amazed and they rushes as the Ice Factory transforms back into the snow-covered backyard. As they arrive in the backyard, they have their winter gear and begin to have fun in the snow. Pablo builds a snowman, Tyrone slides in snow, Uniqua makes snowballs, Austin joins her in a snowball fight, and Tasha admires the snow. Austin, as the narrator says that all the Uniqua finally got her to wish for snow, Cowboy Pablo and Tyrone of the Jungle finally got to see snow for the first time, and The Ice Lady (Tasha) stopped worrying about ice long enough to make some new friends. He even says that he likes snow too. The characters sing "We Love Snow" and the end song. Afterward, they all thank and wish happy holidays to the viewer. The episode ends with the characters transforming back into illustrations as the book closes and the screen irises out and lived happily ever after.

  • Uniqua wears her winter outfit throughout the episode.
    • She now wears a light purple winter jacket over her purple scarf, purple gloves, and purple winter hat.
      • This is the second episode where she, Tasha and Tyrone are in their winter outfits following The Yeti, but now Pablo and Austin have winter clothes of their own as well.
  • Tyrone still retains his original aqua winter outfit, but Tasha, Pablo and Austin now have new winter outfits in this episode:
    • Tasha's winter gear has been changed from red fuzzy earmuffs, red gloves and red scarf to a silver winter hat, with a white scarf, white gloves, and a white winter jacket.
    • Pablo's new winter outfit includes a red winter jacket, red and orange winter hat, and red gloves.
    • Austin's winter outfit included a blue winter jacket, with blue gloves, a blue scarf, and a blue and yellow striped hat that matches his normal shirt.
      • They will wear their winter outfits again in The Action Elves Save Christmas Eve but only when they sing the end song like in this episode. Only the winter headpieces are intact, as their normal clothes are seen.
  • This is the first and only episode where a song was not have the better Backyardigans End Song.
  • This is the only episode where a red hardcover book opens and closes. This also doesn't show the aerial view of the backyard sequence.
    • The end song's music genre changed to match the one used in the episode. However, the French dub uses the normal version.
  • The singers re-recorded the lyrics for the end song, but the Latin American and Castilian Spanish have the same vocals as the regular end song. The Brazilian dub of the end song has its last stanza vocals partially re-recorded.
  • This is second episode of the series where nobody's stomachs are heard growling in the end of the episode fourth.
  • Pablo wears his cowboy outfit from Riding the Range and Polka Palace Party, and Tyrone, as Tyrone of the Jungle, wears his Tarzan outfit from The Heart of the Jungle in this episode.
  • This is the first episode to have Cowboy Pablo, seen without his horse Old Paint and to not be voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen and instead by Jake Goldberg. The second is Le Master of Disguise as a disguise but only seen in the backyard sequence.
  • At the end of the UK version of this episode, the characters say, "Merry Christmas, everyone," instead of "Happy Holidays, everyone."
  • This is the 26th episode to be available on YouTube.
  • Since this is the only episode where after the intro it doesn't fade in to the aerial view of the backyard, Tasha, Pablo and Tyrone's houses are not seen at all when the characters are in the backyard.
    • Uniqua's house in the beginning of the episode is a more darker shade of pink.
  • Even though this episode is a winter special, along with The Action Elves Save Christmas Eve being a Christmas special, both episodes have the same normal intro for their respective seasons.
  • The remastered version of this episode uses the Nickelodeon Productions Logo from 2009-present on TV and Paramount Plus. The DVD home media and Noggin Prime Video version still uses the 2005-2009 Nick Jr. Productions Logo.
  • This is the 9th and final US episode in a row to feature Austin, as he's absent in Special Delivery, the next episode in the US airing capacity of Season Two.

Running Gag

  • Maybe one running gag that the interruption came to the ice factory to interrupt the ice factories.

  • When the vine breaks as Austin uses ice to make the icy waterfall to save everyone, Tyrone wears a builder hat, but after they slide out of the icy waterfall, it's gone.
  • In some parts of the episode, Pablo's cowboy hat has change it's color brown.
  • When the gang is making ice, Tyrone doesn't pull the red lever to make ice as the lever moves itself.
  • During the song "We Love Snow" right when Uniqua starts singing her solo line before it switches to the re-recorded end song, Tasha can be seen clipping through the picnic table.
    • In the same scene, Austin's shadow is seen before he comes on screen.
